Gumi Science Center reopened in January 2026 as a next-generation planetarium featuring one of the most advanced 3D astronomical simulation systems in Korea.
The newly upgraded planetarium is equipped with a 13-meter-diameter dome screen and 98 seats, offering far more than conventional 3D film screenings. Visitors can now experience astronomical simulations themselves rendered in real-time 3D, enabling a fully immersive exploration of the universe.
While several 3D dome theaters exist in Korea, none had previously implemented real-time 3D astronomical simulations. By introducing the latest SkyExplorer 3D system, Gumi Science Center has realized Korea’s first planetarium where audiences can explore space as if flying through the cosmos themselves.
In addition, the planetarium features 〈Astronaut〉, newly produced with narration by Dr. Yi So-yeon, Korea’s first astronaut, as well as the latest 3D fulldome film 〈The Stellars 3D〉, winner of the “Planetarium Director’s Choice Award” at the 2025 Daegu Dome Festival.
Together, these programs deliver a new kind of space experience where scientific accuracy meets powerful storytelling.
