May 22 marked the successful launch of Korea’s first commercial Optical Ground Station (OGS) for space laser communications, held at METASPACE’S Osong Argos Observatory (OAO). Hosted by SpaceBeam, the event brought together leading experts and representatives from Korea’s top institutions, including the Korea Aerospace Administration(KASA), KASI, KARI, KETI, KAS and major universities such as KAIST, SNU, Chungbuk National University and Korea National University Education. The newly unveiled OGS is equipped with satellite tracking capabilities and a proprietary laser communication system developed by SpaceBeam. It is recognized as a key infrastructure for advancing next generation high-speed space communications.
